What will you do in this job?

Oversees and manages the daily maintenance, landscaping and repair of property and equipment while maintaining a safe environment for guests and employees. Assist with managing the overall energy efficient operation of all equipment and ensure proper preventative maintenance of KFT property.

  • Provides guidance and tools to encourage staff’s engagement, successfulness and effectiveness. Actively supervises a diverse staff responsible for maintenance, landscaping and janitorial
  • Perform standard daily usage and safety checks
  • Respond to or delegate maintenance requests in a timely manner
  • Communicate daily with Marine Operations Manager
  • Follow all safety guidelines and precautions, including use of all tools and equipment and chemicals
  • Oversee and manage the maintenance of grounds 
  • Continually evaluate and initiate improvements to procedures and processes that increase efficiency and save man-hours

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • Ability to work independently, in a team environment and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment; ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to be empathetic with respect to guests’ and staffs’ needs and problems
  • Ability to work closely with all levels of the Alaska Collection staff and management and the general public, including professionals and executives from a variety of companies
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Working knowledge of maintenance and safety standards and requirements in the hotel industry
  • Must be able to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basiC
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Training in general mechanical, boiler maintenance, plumbing, construction and electrical maintenance preferred
  • 5 years experience on building maintenance
  • 2 years supervisory experience; or any combination of training and experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid US Driver’s License with clean driving record
