This role will work closely with the Retail Operations Manager of Seward to effectively merchandise, train on guest service and schedule teams to drive revenue and profitability. Work closely with the retail team in daily operations by providing retail guidance and expertise. Supports the Seward Retail Team during the opening/closing of their location and helps with training of best practices in season. Manage cash, time & attendance, loss prevention, revenue assurance and opening/closing the store. Ensure a safe, clean and attractive store layout and merchandising area. Help customers find the best products to suit their individual needs and ensure efficient, courteous handling of guest requests and troubleshoot any IT issues that may arise.
$23.00 per hour
This role is posted for our spring/summer 2025 season!
/ Drive sales success by implementing strategies to improve guest service, promote retail sales, and increase profitability
/ Give input to Operations Manager on merchandise ideas, guest requests and product feedback
/ Partner with the Retail Operations Manager in Seward to understand upcoming product assortments and visual merchandising strategies for the season
/ Provide and facilitate training on POS and merchandising to Kenai Fjords Tours Gift Shop
/ Lead by example while promoting positive culture with staff within the retail department
/ Educate customers on products and services
/ Contribute ideas within merchandising plan to drive high margin, average order value and units per transaction
/ Maintain organized storage areas and ensure all SKUs are represented on the sales floor
/ Open and/or close the store as needed
/ Ensure completion of daily and weekly tasks for the gift shop and sales associates
/ Maintain retail stock inventories between the warehouse and KFT main building
/ Responsible for marking down inventory when provided markdown guidance
/ Work directly with accounting department to provide cash accountability
/ Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned

/ High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information
Minimum Qualifications
/ High School Diploma or equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
/ 2 years’ experience in retail inventory and sales
/ Supervisor experience required
/ Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Physical Abilities:
/ Must be able to walk, sit and stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time
/ Must be able to kneel, crawl, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis
/ Must be able to reach at, above and below shoulder height with regular frequency
/ Must be able to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis
/ Must be able to maintain balance on unsteady or uneven surfaces, ladders, and to negotiate stairs on an occasional basis
/ Must possess sufficient fine and gross motor skills to operate computers and other equipment as required
