What will be your daily pursuit?

Pursuit’s Payroll Manager oversees and manages all aspects of payroll processing and administration for the organization.

What will your compensation be?

The salary range for this role is $105,000/year to $120,000/year. This role is eligible for a yearly 10% bonus. This is a hybrid role out of our Denver office, with three days in the office and two days with the option to work from home.

What will you do in this job?

Payroll Operations:

/ Oversee the end-to-end payroll processes, including data collection, calculation of wages, deductions, and taxes, and distribution of payments.

/ Ensure accuracy and timelines in payroll processing to meet established deadlines.

/ Own the relationship between Pursuit and its payroll processing partners

Compliance:

/ Stay updated on federal, state, provincial, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

/ Ensure payroll practices comply with legal requirements and company policies.

Coordinate Payroll Activities:

/ Collaborate with People & Culture teams to gather payroll data and resolve payroll-related issues.

/ Coordinate with ADP Payroll Services/Workday (OneSource Virtual) team for payroll processing, tax filings, and other payroll-related services.

Manage Payroll Systems:

/ Oversee ADP/Workday Payroll module, ensuring data integrity and system functionality.

/ Implement system updates and enhancements as needed.

Prepare and Review Reports:

/ Generate payroll reports for management and accounting purposes.

/ Review reports for accuracy and provide insights into payroll trends and metrics.

Lead Payroll Team:

/ Lead, manage, and mentor payroll team, providing guidance and support on day-to-day activities.

/ Develop and manage checklists, SOPs, and other training materials to set payroll team members up for success.

Resolve Payroll Issues:

/ Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, errors, and employee inquiries.

/ Work with internal stakeholders to address and rectify payroll issues promptly.

Benefits Administration:

/ Oversee the administration of benefits-related payroll components, such as imputed income calculations, accurate taxation of various retirement and/or deferred compensation arrangements, HSA deductions, etc.

/  Ensure accurate deduction and reporting of benefits contributions.

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

Ideal Experience

/ Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

/ Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is helpful

/ 8+ years progressive Payroll experience, with expertise in payroll processing and compliance

/ Experience with ADP Workforce Now and Workday Payroll

 

Skills & Competencies

/ Strong knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and Workday Payroll

/ Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes in the US and Canada. Additional country experience preferred.

/ Expert understanding of timekeeping and wage & hour compliance requirements.

/ Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables), PowerPoint, Word, & ability to quickly learn and use payroll software platforms

/ Due to month and year end nature of work, ability to work long hours on occasion and over weekends required as needed

/ Individual must possess a working knowledge and understanding of accounting concepts, including P&L’s and relevant balance sheet accounts. Must demonstrate strong numerical skills and the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions. Attention to detail and presentation of the work product, to a high standard, is required;

/ Must possess superior problem solving skills; ability to identify and investigate potential problems with respect to accounting and internal control issues; make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses;

/ Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential;

/ Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

/ Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.

/ High level integrity and ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
