What will be your daily pursuit?

The Sr. Financial Analyst – SG&A is full-time, year-round role reporting to the Sr. Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. The key mandate of this role is to provide fact-based, analytical decision support and insights into Pursuit’s Support Services (Revenue, People & Culture, Accounting & Finance, and IT departments) leadership teams around the world.

What will your compensation be?

The salary range for this role is $70,000/year to $90,000/year. Pursuit offers a full suite of benefits, including discounts at our hotels, restaurants, and attractions, flexible time off, and a 401k contribution matching plan. 

What will you do in this job?

Through its Refresh Build Buy strategy, Pursuit continues on a journey of rapid growth, and concurrently, Pursuit’s support services functions have evolved to a customer-centric, data-driven organization with a strong focus on guest and employee satisfaction and Pursuit seeks to accelerate its growth trajectory by further increasing these analytic capabilities.   The Sr. Financial Analyst – SG&A will play a critical role in assisting Pursuit’s SG&A teams by providing insightful and actionable decision support on department-level P&Ls, capital management and enterprise cost allocation strategies, working to drive detailed expense and labor management, and ultimately working to create return on investment for key initiatives.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting
    • Develop annual SG&A operating and capital budgets in collaboration with department leaders
    • Own the 21-month rolling forecast of SG&A expenses based on historical data and business objectives
    • Monitor actuals vs. budget to identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
  •  Expense Analysis
    • Analyze SG&A spend trends and cost drivers
    • Provide variance analysis and commentary on key expense items
    • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency
  • Financial Reporting
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports related to SG&A
    • Support internal and external audit processes
    • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of SG&A reporting in financial systems
    • Allocations
  • Business Partnering
    • Collaborate with department leaders (e.g., HR, marketing, IT) to understand their financial needs
    • Provide financial insights to support decision-making
    • Help departments align spending with company strategy
  • Headcount and Compensation Analysis
    • Track headcount and labor costs (salaries, bonuses, benefits) across functions
    • Support workforce planning and cost modeling
    • Incentive programs
  • Process Improvement
    • Drive efficiency in SG&A processes (e.g., approval workflows, expense reporting, forecasting)
    • Implement automation and reporting tools to streamline SG&A processes
  • Compliance and Controls
    • Ensure SG&A expenditures comply with internal policies and external regulations
    • Support implementation of financial controls to mitigate risk

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience or certification related to finance, accounting, or data sciences with a minimum of 2 years’ experience
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling) and experience using Solver, or other analytical and reporting suites
• Experience working in a finance decision-support capacity
• A natural curiosity about the business and the internal/external factors that influence results; natural tendency to ask “why,” to challenge the status quo and to dig in to address unresolved questions
• Relentless energy, a strong sense of urgency and a bias toward action as opposed to waiting to be instructed on what to do
• Strong commitment to working as a team with an ability to foster strong working relationships, gain agreement on timelines, manage stakeholder requirements, and escalate risks before they become issues
• Resourceful, adaptable, resilient, and having a strong sense of self-awareness, with proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Flexibility and willingness to work with a geographically diverse team in a broad range of time zones
• Ability to process information quickly and make decisions with fact-based logic and sound reasoning
