What will be your daily pursuit?

In this role, you will collaborate with all Revenue Teams to drive revenue and profit for our Glacier Park and Alaska lodging and attractions using rational, disciplined decision-making processes, while managing risk under current and anticipated market conditions. This highly collaborative position is key to the development and implementation of effective product, price, inventory, and distribution strategies. This position oversees inventory management in all guest channels, with heavy focus on our group and OTA allocations and systems.

What will you do in this job?

This role requires critical thinking, strong relationship-building abilities, change management skills, and an analytical mind. It requires the ability to successfully communicate rate and product recommendations to the Revenue Team (consisting of Sales, Marketing, and Central Reservations) and General Managers who must align on the strategies. To be successful, you will collaborate frequently with your local team and have effective communication skills. While most of the PNW lodging and attractions are summer only, the Grouse Mountain Lodge is one of Pursuits year-round businesses and is reviewed by the company and our Board all year.

  • Collaborate on price strategies through definition and management of all consumer direct rates, travel trade rate levels, and other tactics, congruent with demand factors
  • Play an active role in annual business plans to review budgets inclusive of RN/ADR and PAX/ETP by sales channel
  • Manage key OTA partners to maximize visibility and revenue while maintaining the two-way interface through a relationship with core systems and third-party platforms
  • Support rate building for all segments
  • Evaluate available Market Share/Data reports to understand trends and opportunities and the market as a whole and ensure targeted pricing and positioning is achieved
  • Proactively monitor local events and plan for demands on inventory
  • Monitor dynamic pricing where applicable
  • Support Revenue Manager during weekly pace reporting and during 21-month Forecasts (Day by Day by Segment) for each business
  • Monitor and massage inventory to ensure maximum utilization
  • Enforces and follows all Viad and Pursuit policies and regulations, including our ‘Always Honest’ code of conduct
  • Completes other tasks and projects as needed to support the Pursuit Leadership Teams

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a business pricing role, analysis role, or similar work experience related to driving revenue, business growth, and aligning processes
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PPT, MS Teams) strongly preferred, with a strong focus on Excel
  • Experience with core systems a plus: Maestro (PMS), Pacific (POS), Siteminder (Channel Manager), Digonex and/or IDeaS (Dynamic Pricing System), OTA’s (Expedia/Booking.com), and Ventrata (POS for attractions)
  • Strong “can-do” attitude with willingness to be flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to make decisions, solve problems, exercise good judgment, and critical thinking
  • Able to draw conclusions through data analysis and communicate clearly to stakeholders
  • Strong commitment to building positive working relationships and collaboration
  • Willingness to work with a geographically dispersed team, virtually and in-person
  • Resourceful, with a curiosity to ask questions and create new solutions
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Sense of urgency to complete job duties accurately and in a timely manner
  • Sense of humor and ability to ‘let things roll’ when the unexpected happens
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Hospitality and service-focused mindset including the need to work successfully with both internal and external partners
  • While infrequent, must be flexible to work non-traditional hours/days if there is a critical business need
  • Open to and recognize the need for change and continuous improvement
