What will be your daily pursuit?

The Alaska Conference Service Manager is a experienced and detail-oriented Manager that oversees, coordinates, and manages all aspects of our events and conferences across Alaska. This role includes planning, training, organizing, and executing events from start to finish, ensuring all client specifications and requirements are met.  Our ideal candidate has a solid understanding of event planning and management, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task effectively.

They should be capable of managing teams, coordinating with vendors, and maintaining high standards of customer service.

 

This is a non-hybrid role, position may be based out of Seward or Talkeetna but will be Anchorage based by 2028. 

 

This role is extended seasonal full-time with a planned 10 month annual work schedule and annual leave of absence scheduled for November & December. 

What will your compensation be?

$70,000 plus full benefits including medical, vision, dental, 401K, and more!

This role is set to begin September 1st, 2025!

What will you do in this job?

  • Plan, organize, train, support and execute events and conferences from start to finish according to client requirements
  • Coordinate with clients and on-site event managers & staff to identify their needs to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Confer regularly with immediate supervisor, food and beverage staff, maintenance staff, and other company personnel departments to plan, coordinate and evaluate services, activities/events, exchange information, resolve problems
  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems for events before, during and after the event day
  • Conduct resume meetings, pre- and post-event evaluations and report on outcomes with all teams
  • Coordinate with vendors, exhibitors, and stakeholders during event planning
  • Ensure event is completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur
  • Develop event feedback surveys and manage the collection of responses
  • Oversee the dismantling and removal of the event and clear the venue efficiently when needed
  • Oversee seasonal opening and closing of event venue space, equipment and serviceware
  • Serve as administrative liaison with customers, clients, operational teams and sales
  • Attends, and often leads, weekly Banquet Event Order and resume meetings
  • Carry out various special assignments such as preparation of floor plans, responding to state inquiries, fulfilling special event licensing requirements, preparing special event reports
  • As needed, assist the client in menu planning, food and beverage coordination, table arrangements, decorations, traffic flow, room set-up, group room blocks and VIP services
  • Work with sales staff to service and solicit new business
  • Prepare and distribute amenity request forms for specified clients

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

Ideal Experience

  • 1-5+ years proven experience as a Conference Services Manager or similar role
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Familiarity with event registration software and event mobile apps

Skills & Abilities:

  • Must possess the ability to know how to upsell and be creative with selling that works with and for the hotel
  • Ability to interact with others in an honest, fair and respectful way
  • Skilled at clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media
  • Ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships
  • Must be able to stand, sit, crouch or stoop for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of company personnel clients and outside organizations, firms and agencies
